About me.

“Are you more of a creative or analytical type?” I am both.

After 12 years of experience in research, I know how important it is to create valid and trustworthy knowledge. I have not only done research; I have also worked in higher education and as an editor in science communication.

That's why I know that interesting knowledge must also be communicated compellingly—ideally with images. However, it is often hard to mediate between academics and creative professionals: they speak different languages, follow different logics and a lot of “translation work” is required. It is an art in itself to simplify complex research findings into clear language and memorable images, but without oversimplifying them, in order to portray social phenomena with nuance

Finally, I picked up the pencil myself and trained as an illustrator. My academic work in visual communication and my passion for art helped me in this endeavor.

Since 2023, I´ve been offering three services as a freelancer: research, knowledge transfer, and illustration.

My work abroad, especially in Latin America, has influenced my approach as much as my life in Berlin—an international metropolis whose art, politics, and civil society keep fascinating me every day.

Who I work with

It matters to me to make a difference in society. I´m passionate about civil society. To strengthen it, we need to think across sectors and collaborate with government institutions and companies that take their social responsibilities seriously and are committed to a more just and equitable society.

My work experience in the NGO sector, alongside roles in government institutions and a social enterprise, helps me to understand and bring together the logic of all three sectors.

“The author approaches the subject with the rare combination of a scholar's critical intellect and an artist's aesthetic eye.”
